Because we are committed to fostering diversity and inclusion, CHG encourages its people to create Employee Network Groups. Employees are welcome to use company resources, as well as $500 per year, to form groups based on their personal interests.
From board games to learning Italian, each of CHG's Employee Network Groups provide a way to establish meaningful relationships with co-workers. There are now 30 Employee Network Groups across all of our offices, with more than 800 employees participating.
Each week we'll highlight a different group and what they do to make a difference in our employees' lives and throughout the community.
This week we learn about the CompHelpers group. Here's what group leader Brooke Ziakas had to say.
What's your Employee Network Group about?
CompHelpers brings awareness, organizes and participates in volunteer activities throughout the community.
Why did you start this group?
We started CompHelpers to bring like-minded people together and add value to the community and CHG. Other aspects we focus on are to enhance our lives, the lives of others and to make a difference.
How often do you meet?
We meet at least once a month to plan and organize. We also meet every month to take part in a food bank activity and quarterly for additional projects.
What are a few activities you're involved in?
We host ongoing drives for The Road Home and Utah Food Bank and volunteer for two Meals on Wheels routes. One of our favorite activities was to participate in Sub for Santa to help a family in need. Earlier this year we provided and served dinner at The Road Home. We also volunteered at the Salt Lake City VAMC Fisher House detailing the kitchen, pulling weeds and cleaning patio furniture. Last year we used company paid Volunteer Time Off (VTO) to volunteer at the National Alliance on Mental Illness holiday party.
