Making a Difference

CHG employees share a love for reading with local students

At CHG, our Putting People First culture fosters an atmosphere of caring. And our people go above and beyond to take care of each other as well as our community. Last year, CHG employees used more than 10,000 hours of volunteer time off to serve in the community.

Although there are a variety of causes our people are passionate about, one of our favorite annual volunteer events is the United Way’s Dr. Seuss Day. This year, more than 20 CHG team members used their company-paid volunteer time off to read with the students at East Midvale Elementary.

“Our people are committed to Putting People First and are passionate about making a difference in the community,” says DiVina Mauchley, senior culture specialist at CHG. “Every time we offer an activity like Dr. Seuss Day they get really excited, and we have a lot of participation and a lot of fun.”

Dressed in Cat in the Hat top hats and armed with Dr. Seuss classics, the group sat with students throughout the morning, reading stories and passing along a love for reading.

“Studies have shown that children who read frequently develop stronger reading skills and do better in school,” DiVina shares. “We’re proud to be part of an event like this that helps kids be more confident and successful in school.”
