At CHG, our core value is Putting People First, and one way we do this is through community service.
Recently, 40 members of CHG’s accounts receivable team donated their time ‚Äî and elbow grease ‚Äî to Real Food Rising, a community farming program dedicated to transforming the lives of youth and providing access to healthful food. The nonprofit plans to grow 20,000 pounds of produce this year on their 1.25-acre farm in Salt Lake City, then donate the harvest to food pantries and people in need.
Since many of the youth in Real Food Rising’s program are back in school, the organization needed help harvesting crops. That’s where CHG’s accounts receivable team stepped in. The team picked, pruned and provided support. They accomplished two weeks of harvesting work in just two hours!
“Within an hour of our harvest, everything was delivered to local food pantries for distribution. It was amazing to see a farm-to-table concept in action,” says Scott Rasmussen, senior director of accounts receivable and organizer of the team’s service project.
“I absolutely love what the organization is doing to help lower income families have affordable and easier access to healthy, organic produce,” says Jenny Andrus, senior AR client services specialist. “I also love that they are teaching kids about the importance of eating healthy foods.”
Real Food Rising’s efforts truly make a difference in our community, and the service project also had lasting impact on CHG employees. “It felt so good to be a part of something that benefits so many,” says Susan Romney, senior AR client services specialist.
The accounts receivable team shares her sentiment and plans to volunteer again next season.
